President Prabowo's statement that stocks are a form of gambling has triggered controversy among the public, especially economic actors and academics engaged in the field of Islamic economics. It is important to review whether stocks have an element of gambling in the perspective of sharia economic law. This research aims to analyze the concept of stocks in Islamic law, examine whether stocks can be categorized as gambling according to a sharia perspective, and examine the impact of the President's statement on public perception. Discourse analysis is used to understand the impact of the President's statement on regulations and public perception of sharia stocks. The results of the study show that stocks that are in accordance with sharia principles are not included in the gambling category, because they have a legal ownership basis and are based on real economic activities. The President's statement could have implications for increasing misunderstandings in the public regarding stock investment, so broader education is needed on the difference between sharia stocks and speculative activities that are prohibited in Islam
