Abstract

Economic empowerment of the people is an important agenda in national development that requires synergy between religious institutions, the government, and the community. The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Ulama Cadre Education (PKU) program serves as a strategic instrument for producing ulama who have religious competence as well as socio economic sensitivity. This study uses a literature review method by examining six main articles from SINTA and Google Scholar as well as several supporting literatures. The analysis was conducted through classification, synthesis, and triangulation of sources. The results of the study show that PKU MUI plays a role in strengthening sharia financial literacy, optimizing zakat and waqf, developing halalbased businesses, microfinance, and entrepreneurship education. PKU MUI is seen as a catalyst that connects Islamic organizations with the community, produces Muslim entrepreneurs, and encourages economic independence among Muslims. These findings emphasize the urgency of PKU MUI as a motor for socioeconomic transformation oriented towards sustainability and the welfare of Muslims in Indonesia.
